FAQ & Troubleshooting
Common questions and solutions for Fit Check theme issues.
General
How do I update the theme?
When a new version is available from the Shopify Theme Store, update Fit Check from your Shopify admin. Go to Online Store > Themes, open the update notification or version status for the theme, review the release notes if needed, then choose Add to draft themes.
Shopify copies supported theme-editor customizations into the updated draft when possible, including theme settings, section and block settings, templates, app embeds, app extensions, and wording changes. Review the updated draft before publishing it. If custom code edits cannot be included automatically, copy those changes manually or contact support.
Can I use Fit Check with Shopify Plus?
Yes. Fit Check is designed to work across Shopify storefront plans, including Shopify Plus. Plus-specific checkout, app, or platform behavior still depends on your Shopify configuration and the apps installed on your store.
Does Fit Check work with third-party apps?
Fit Check supports Shopify’s app blocks system. Apps that support app blocks are the preferred option because they can be added and managed directly in the theme editor.
Apps that use script injection are generally compatible, but behavior can depend on the individual app. If an injected app changes product forms, cart behavior, checkout-adjacent messaging, tracking, or page layout, test it on a draft theme before publishing. For app-specific conflicts, contact the app developer first and contact Fit Check support if the theme needs adjustment.
Customization
How do I change the fonts?
Go to Theme settings > Typography in the theme editor. You can set fonts for headings, subheadings, body text, display text, and alternative text independently. Each heading level (H1–H6) can also be configured with its own font slot, size, line height, letter spacing, and text case.
How do I change the colors?
Go to Theme settings > Color palette in the theme editor. Set the global palette first, then use section Background color fields or direct text/border controls where a section needs a local override.
How do I add a new section to a page?
In the theme editor, select the page from the top dropdown, then click Add section at the bottom of the left sidebar.
For a launch checklist, use Setup Checklist. For visual shopping sections, start with Image and Video Product Links, Featured Product, and Explorer Product Links.
Products
How do I enable variant swatches?
Variant swatches display automatically for options that have swatch values configured. In your Shopify admin, go to Products > Options and add swatch images or colors to your option values.
If swatches do not appear, confirm that your product option values have swatch colors or images assigned and that the product-card or variant-picker blocks are configured to show swatches where you expect them.
How do I add a size guide?
Use the Size guide table block on the Product template. For the best long-term setup, create a Shopify Size Chart metaobject, create the product metafield custom.size_chart, assign a Size Chart entry to each product, then set the block’s Size guide data source to Product size chart metaobject in the theme editor.
The Size Chart entry controls the chart title, source unit, headers, rows, fit note, and measurement note. Fit Check automatically converts inches to centimeters or centimeters to inches from the entry’s source_unit field.
See Size guide setup guide for the screenshot-led setup process from Shopify Admin to a working storefront drawer. Create separate Product templates only when the page layout needs to change, not just because jeans, tops, or shoes use different chart rows.
Why is there space above or below product media?
If the Product media gallery uses a fixed Portrait, Square, or Landscape ratio, its frame keeps that exact shape and is centered within the available Product details section height. With Square or Landscape and 2–3 desktop columns, space above and below the frame can therefore be intentional rather than a layout error.
For a gap-free gallery, use Aspect ratio: Auto with Image position: Cover. To keep a fixed ratio but reduce the surrounding space, open Product details > Section height, choose Custom, and adjust Custom height. Use Fit when the complete source must remain visible without cropping; use Cover when filling the frame is more important.
See Product page > Media Gallery for the complete desktop and mobile behavior.
How do I tag products on images or videos?
Use Image with product links or Video with product links inside a compatible section, then add product-link blocks for the products shown in the media.
See Image and Video Product Links for the setup steps, visibility checks, and responsive behavior notes.
Why is the selling plan picker not showing?
The selling plan picker only appears when a product has active selling plan groups (subscriptions). You need a subscriptions app installed (e.g., Shopify Subscriptions) and at least one product with a selling plan configured.
Performance
How can I improve page load speed?
- Optimize product images before uploading (compress to reasonable file sizes).
- Limit the number of sections on the homepage to what you actually need.
- Avoid using too many custom fonts — stick to the 5 font slots provided (heading, subheading, body, display, alternative).
- Use Shopify-hosted videos instead of embedded third-party players.
My images look blurry. What should I do?
Upload images at the recommended sizes listed in Image and video requirements. For retina displays, upload at 2x the display size.
