Languages and translations
Fit Check includes theme-owned storefront and Theme Editor translations for English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean. Adding a language in Shopify does not automatically translate every piece of store content: Shopify separates theme copy from merchant content.
What Fit Check translates
The theme supplies translations for:
- storefront interface text such as search, cart, account, forms, filters, product controls, accessibility labels, and error messages;
- section, block, and Theme settings labels shown in the theme editor;
- the untouched example copy and placeholder content shipped with Fit Check presets and templates.
Fit Check recognizes shipped English preset copy by its exact original value. If you customize that copy, the theme keeps your value and does not replace it when a customer changes language.
What you translate in Shopify
Translate store-specific content with Shopify’s translation tools or a compatible translation app:
- product, collection, page, article, blog, and policy content;
- navigation menu labels;
- copy you entered or changed in section and block settings;
- metafield and metaobject content;
- app blocks, app embeds, and content rendered by third-party apps.
Shopify Translate & Adapt can manage these translation resources. Review its output before publishing a language, especially product details, policies, checkout-adjacent content, and campaign copy.
Add and publish a language
- In Shopify admin, add the language under Settings > Languages.
- Add or review translations with Translate & Adapt or your translation app.
- Preview the language on a draft theme.
- Check the home, product, collection, search, cart, blog, article, contact, password, policy, and 404 pages.
- Add representative unmounted sections and blocks in the theme editor and review their default copy.
- Check desktop and mobile layouts for longer labels, buttons, tabs, menus, filters, drawers, and form messages.
- Publish the language only after storefront and linguistic review are complete.
An unpublished language cannot be rendered through the storefront locale URL. Theme files can be technically complete while direct storefront testing remains unavailable until that language is published on the verification store.
When copy remains in English
Use this order to find the owner:
- If it is a product, collection, page, menu, policy, metafield, or metaobject value, translate the Shopify resource.
- If you changed the text in a section or block, translate that setting through Shopify’s translation resources.
- If an app renders it, configure the app’s language support.
- If untouched Fit Check interface or preset copy remains in English, contact Fit Check support with the page URL, selected language, section or block name, and a screenshot.
Before publishing
- Confirm the language is published and its locale URL loads with the correct document language.
- Confirm no raw translation keys or Liquid errors are visible.
- Verify forms, search, filters, cart updates, product options, quick add, and error states.
- Review all newly added sections and blocks, not only the sections already mounted in the demo.
- Have a fluent reviewer approve tone, terminology, grammar, punctuation, and regional conventions.
