404 Page
The 404 template appears when a customer opens a storefront URL that does not exist. It should help customers recover quickly without feeling like the store is broken.
Setup Order
- Open the 404 templateIn the theme editor top bar, choose the 404 page when available.
- Review the messageKeep the title and body clear, short, and useful for customers who landed on a missing URL.
- Check the recovery linkPoint the primary button to a useful destination such as All products, Search, or a key collection.
- Check mobile spacingPreview the 404 page on mobile so the message and button remain visible and easy to tap.
Default Layout
The default 404 template uses the 404 section with:
- A short text message
- A heading
- A recovery button
Content Checklist

Tips
- Use the 404 page for recovery, not promotion-heavy content.
- Keep the page lightweight because customers arrive there unexpectedly.
- Check any links changed during redirects, migrations, or product removals so customers are sent to a useful replacement page when possible.
